Work Injury Physiotherapy in Perth & Regional WA
A workplace injury can affect your ability to perform your usual role, manage daily activities and feel confident with movement. Symptoms may follow one incident or develop gradually through lifting, repetitive tasks, sustained positions, driving or physically demanding duties.
Our Physiotherapists assess work-related musculoskeletal symptoms at Mount Pleasant, Belmont and Regional WA clinics. Your appointment considers your symptoms, movement, physical capacity and job demands before suitable next steps are discussed.
Book a Work Injury appointment
If an injury is affecting your role, movement or daily activities, a Physiotherapy assessment can help clarify relevant factors and provide practical next steps.
Unsure about funding?
Billing arrangements depend on your claim status, referral information and insurer approval. Review our Fees & Funding information or call reception before attending.
Common Work Injuries
Workplace injuries can occur in office roles, healthcare, trades, warehousing, construction, transport and manual occupations. Some follow a clear incident, while others build gradually through repeated load or sustained tasks.
- Lower Back Pain associated with lifting, bending, twisting or prolonged sitting
- Neck Pain associated with desk work, driving or sustained positions
- Shoulder Pain associated with repetitive reaching, lifting or overhead tasks
- Elbow Pain associated with gripping, repetitive use or tool handling
- Knee Pain associated with kneeling, squatting, stairs or physical duties
Workplace injuries are not limited to manual roles. Office-based symptoms, repetitive tasks, awkward workstation demands, slips and falls can also affect movement and function.
When to consider a Physiotherapy appointment
An assessment may be useful when symptoms are affecting your usual duties, daily activities or confidence with movement.
- Symptoms following a workplace incident
- Pain or stiffness that is not settling
- Recurring symptoms with lifting, driving or repetitive tasks
- Difficulty managing normal or modified duties
- Reduced confidence returning to physical work activities
- Uncertainty about which movements or tasks to modify
What a Work Injury appointment may include
Your Physiotherapist will assess the injury in the context of your symptoms, movement, work tasks and recovery goals. This helps identify what may be contributing and which activities may need to be modified or gradually rebuilt.
- Discussion of the incident or how symptoms developed
- Assessment of movement, symptoms, strength and load tolerance
- Review of aggravating duties and current limitations
- Consideration of role-specific physical demands
- Discussion of relevant medical information or imaging
- Planning for treatment, exercise and activity progression
Bring any referral, medical reports, imaging or claim documentation that may be relevant to your appointment.
How Physiotherapy may help
Recommendations are individualised according to your assessment findings and work demands. Your plan may combine symptom management, exercise and gradual exposure to relevant activities.
- Hands-on Physiotherapy where clinically appropriate
- Dry needling where suitable and with your consent
- Exercises to support movement, strength and physical capacity
- Advice about pacing and temporary task modification
- Guidance for gradually rebuilding work-related activities
- Communication with your GP or referrer where appropriate
Funding and claim pathways
WorkCover WA advises injured workers to report the injury to their employer, see a doctor and obtain a First Certificate of Capacity before completing the Workers Compensation Claim Form. Your employer then provides the documents to its insurer.
Physiotherapy funding depends on the claim decision, referral requirements and any insurer approval that applies. Claim liability and payment approval are separate from your clinical assessment.
- Send your referral and available claim information to reception before attending
- Provide your claim number, insurer and employer details when available
- Confirm whether Physiotherapy treatment has been approved
- Advise reception promptly if your claim status changes
Tweak Health may provide up to two appointments while a Workers Compensation claim is pending, subject to clinic requirements. If the claim is rejected or funding is not approved, the client remains responsible for the fees for those appointments.
Return-to-work and recovery planning
Recovery planning may involve gradually rebuilding tolerance for lifting, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, sitting, driving or other role-specific tasks.
Some injuries may involve related concerns such as Sciatica or Hip Pain, depending on the incident and how movement has changed since.
- Building tolerance for duties in manageable stages
- Reviewing symptom responses as activity changes
- Progressing strength and movement where appropriate
- Considering current restrictions or modified duties
- Coordinating with medical and workplace processes where required
Certificates of Capacity, claim decisions and formal return-to-work arrangements are managed through the relevant medical practitioner, employer and insurer processes.
When to seek urgent medical attention
Call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance following a serious workplace incident or if someone has difficulty breathing, chest pain, loses consciousness, has uncontrollable bleeding or appears seriously injured.
Go to a hospital emergency department or seek urgent medical care if the injury involves any of the following:
- A limb that appears twisted, bent or visibly deformed
- Bone visible through the skin or severe uncontrolled bleeding
- A serious head injury, confusion, repeated vomiting or loss of consciousness
- New weakness, numbness or difficulty moving a limb
- Rapid swelling, severe pain or an inability to use the injured area
- Back pain with bladder or bowel changes or numbness around the groin
- A major fall, vehicle incident or other high-impact accident
Less severe injuries should still receive appropriate medical assessment when pain is worsening, movement is significantly limited or you are concerned.
Work Injury FAQs
Can I book Physiotherapy for a Work Injury?
Yes. Contact reception to discuss your injury, appointment options and available claim information. Billing arrangements depend on your claim status, referral requirements and insurer approval.
Do I need an approved Workers Compensation claim before attending?
Tweak Health may provide up to two appointments while a claim is pending, subject to clinic requirements. If the claim is rejected or funding is not approved, you will be responsible for the fees for those appointments.
Can I attend if I am unsure which funding pathway applies?
You can contact reception to discuss your available documents and booking options. A self-funded appointment may be possible while you clarify your claim or funding arrangements.
What should I bring to my first Work Injury appointment?
Bring your referral, claim number, insurer details, employer information, Certificate of Capacity and any relevant reports or imaging you already have. Please send available documents to reception@tweak.health as soon as your appointment is booked.
Can Work Injuries develop gradually?
Yes. Some work-related symptoms develop over time through repetitive tasks, sustained positions, repeated load, prolonged sitting, driving or reduced recovery between shifts rather than one obvious incident.
Can Physiotherapy contribute to return-to-work planning?
Physiotherapy may help assess movement and physical capacity, guide exercise progression and provide relevant clinical information. Formal work capacity and claim decisions remain with the appropriate medical, employer and insurer processes.
